Inverness Nature Reserve is venue for Biodiversity Action Day

Highland Council Countryside Rangers are inviting outdoor lovers to Merkinch Local Nature Reserve in Inverness to take part in Biodiversity Action Day on Saturday 5 June between 2-4pm.

Katy Martin, Highland Council’s Senior Ranger for Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch and Strathspey said: “Merkinch Local Nature Reserve is a hidden gem in Inverness - a great spot for people to get close to a range of wildlife. On Saturday 5th we will be trying to uncover the range of plants and animals that live there, with the help of some specialists. We’ll also be finding out what threatens our wildlife and what we can do to help.”

This is a free family friendly event, but children must be accompanied. Participants should dress warmly and meet at the South Kessock turning circle (grid ref NH 655 472). For further information please telephone 01463 710786.

The aim of the Highland Council Countryside Rangers is to promote public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and to conserve wildlife. 2010 is International Year of Biodiversity.
