Promoting the regeneration of Nairn Town Centre

New plans to redevelop the town centre in Nairn are being presented to the local community.

Over the last month, The Highland Council has been preparing a draft development brief to outline development options for the area now that expansion of the Co-op store in the town centre will no longer go ahead. The document was recently approved for consultation following the Council’s Planning, Environment and Development Committee on 22 September and can be viewed at Nairn Service Point, Nairn Library and online.

A special Ward Forum to discuss the brief in more detail is due to be held at 7.00pm on Wednesday 6 October in the Courthouse, Nairn. This will be preceded by a more informal ‘drop-in’ exhibition to be held between 2pm and 6pm in the same venue.

The Council would welcome comments on any aspect of the brief. In particular, views on the two preferred development options are invited. Any alternative ideas on uses, layout and design for the brief area can also be submitted. All views should be submitted on or before 26 October.
