Rangers have the key to nature’s larder.

A limited number of places are available on a gastronomic guided walk with Great Glen Way Rangers on Sunday 8 May 2011.

This annual “Wild Food Workshop” takes place at Fort Augustus on the Great Glen Way. The Rangers will show participants how to Spring forth with salads, bottle up some blossom and learn the whys and wherefores of birch sap. There may even be a mushroom or two on the menu!

The morning will consist of a walk round the local woods and fields with an experienced and enthusiastic Ranger who will talk participants through identifying the foods available in their local area - from the obvious and well known to the more unusual. In the afternoon the Rangers will demonstrate how to cook common wild foods, with lots to taste and try. Recipes will also be provided at the end of the session.

Places are extremely limited and as this is always a popular event booking is essential. Details of the meeting place will be given out on booking. For more information and a booking form, contact the Great Glen Way Rangers on tel: 01320 366633 or visit www.greatglenway.com.
