Reprieve for Inverness West evening bus services

Evening bus services to the west of Inverness, which were due to end on 31 December, are to continue at least until the end of February, next year.

The Highland Council has agreed a two-month award of contract to Stagecoach to continue the evening bus services in the west of Inverness from 1 January, 2012.

The timetable will be recast as a circular service in each direction. Service 8A  will serve South Kessock, Merkinch, Scorguie, Highfield  and Mile End,  and Service 8C will serve Mile End, Kinmylies, Highfield,  Scorguie, Merkinch and South Kessock, both on an hourly frequency from the City Centre. This will  provide 2 buses an hour from these areas to and from the City Centre.  Through services to and from Raigmore Hospital will be maintained.

The TEC Services Committee will consider a report at their meeting on Thursday 19 January, 2012 which will recommend continuation of the service until September to allow time for the longer term future of the service to be reviewed.
