Continuing closure of Stromeferry by-pass

The A 890 Lochcarron – Kyle will remain closed today and tomorrow (Saturday) as work continues to make safe a landslide from a netted rockface.

The road was closed at 9.30 am on Thursday after the first of three separate falls of 100 tonnes of rock on to the road at a location 100 yards west of the Avalanche Shelter.

Today (Friday),  the netting is being removed to allow loose rock to be removed and a full assessment made of the rock face.

Before the road can reopen, loose material must be removed and netting reinstated on the rockface.

The Inverness – Kyle train service is unaffected.
