Consultation on proposed change of education provision at Staffin.

Members of the public with an interest in the provision of primary education in the Staffin area of the Isle of Skye are being invited to view a report on the outcomes of a recent public consultation by The Highland Council’s education authority.

Under the terms of the Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010, the Council recently carried out a consultation on the proposal to change the provision of education in Staffin Primary School, by making the school a Gaelic Medium School with an English Medium provision.

The Highland Council is obliged, under the terms of the Act to publish a consultation report in relation to this proposal three weeks in advance of the committee at which elected members will consider the proposal.

This report will be accessible on the Council’s website from today (Thursday 17 February 2010) at:  http://www.highland.gov.uk/schoolconsultations.htm.

All comments received will be summarised and made available to elected members who will consider the consultation report at the Education Culture and Sport Committee on Thursday 10 March 2011.
