Fast tracking of planning applications for small businesses

The Highland Council’s Planning and Development Service has worked in partnership with the Scottish Federation of Small Businesses to develop a protocol for fast tracking planning applications for small businesses.

Councillor Iain Ross, Chair of Planning, Environment and Development, said: “I am pleased to see that the partnership between the Council planners and the Federation of Small Businesses has resulted in improved procedures for dealing with applications by small businesses recognising their importance to the Highland economy.

“I am also pleased to see that the protocol identifies the requirements of other Council services and of the advice offered by Business Gateway.  This one-stop advice service will help both existing and start up small business to develop with less delay and cost.”

The protocol and guidance will be available on the Planning website.
