Highland warrior workshops at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery

Arms and armour has been the theme at Inverness Museum and Art Gallery throughout March and now children have a chance to create their own Highland warrior costume.

To celebrate the last few days of the Way of the Warrior exhibition two craft workshops will be held showing children how to make body armour and helmets.

There is plenty of inspiration in the exhibition with warrior costumes from some of the biggest historical movies such as Gladiator, The Last Samurai and King Arthur.

Some of the museum’s collections such as targes and broadswords bring a Highland perspective to the exhibition.

Museum Curator Catharine Niven said: “The exhibition is very popular with museum visitors. It’s not surprising because it is a fantastic blend of films and real history and there is plenty to see and do.”

The workshops will run on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 April and are suitable for children age 7+. All workshops must be booked and are £2.50 entry fee.  Places are limited.

Please call Inverness Museum on 01463 237114 to book.  The Way of the Warrior exhibition ends on Saturday 23 April.
