Panel members sought for Social Work Complaints Review Committee

The Highland Council is seeking to fill three panel vacancies on the Social Work Complaints Review Committee, which gives impartial consideration to complaints raised by clients of the Social Work Service, their carers or representatives. 

Complaints may relate to assessments, to their outcomes or to the delivery of Social Work Services.  The Committee also makes recommendations on the outcome of complaints heard to the Housing and Social Work Committee.

Independent persons appointed are required to have a knowledge of Social Work matters or the conduct of proceedings before a review body or tribunal, and should not be:-

(a) A member or an officer of any local authority, and should not have been such  a member or officer for a period of one year prior to being appointed to the Complaints Review Committee;
(b) A person who is a member of, or employed by, any organisation to which the Council have delegated any of their social work functions; or
(c) A spouse / partner of any such member, officer or person.

Anyone wishing to be considered for appointment as an independent person to the Complaints Review Committee should submit their CV along with a letter detailing any other relevant information to Stewart Fraser, Acting Head of Legal Services, Council Headquarters, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness IV3 5NX   

The closing date for receipt of completed submissions is Friday 24 June 2011.
