Aviemore area advised of emergency overnight water repairs

Information from Scottish Water

Scottish Water is advising customers in the Badenoch and Strathspey communities of Aviemore, Boat of Garten, Dulnain Bridge and Kincraig of emergency repairs that are likely to interrupt their drinking water supply overnight tonight (31 May).

Approximately 900 properties receive their supply directly from Blackpark Water Treatment Works. It also feeds other areas of Badenoch and Strathspey but these have storage tanks to maintain supplies.

The repairs are scheduled to start at 9pm this evening and be complete by 3am tomorrow (1 June).

Customers in the affected areas who expect to use water after 9pm and before 3am are advised to store some in clean, covered containers in the fridge. Washing machines and dishwashers should not be used between these times.

Customers might notice discoloured or cloudy water during and after the repair work. This will be due to the movement of natural sediment or pockets of air within local water mains. The water will eventually run clear.

Scottish Water’s Customer Helpline, staffed 24 hours a day, is 0845 601 8855.
