Planning gain boost for Nairn Town Centre

Nairn Town Centre is to benefit from £250,000 of improvements funding by Sainsbury’s planning gain monies following the opening of the new Nairn store.

At today’s (Wednesday 16 November) Planning, Environment and Development Committee, members agreed to allocate £130,000 for street lighting, £52,200 for CCTV and £67,600 for a Nairn shop front scheme.

Councillor Graham Marsden welcomed the news. Speaking at the meeting he said:  “This is extremely good news and I would like to thank our planning officers for all their hard work in getting this development to Nairn and securing the planning gain money.  Making this additional investment to our town centre is certainly a very welcome boost and it nicely complements the town’s streetscape works. I’m aware that some local businesses have already registered interest in the shop front scheme so I am sure all these improvements prove to be of great benefit to Nairn.”
