Traffic measures agreed to cushion impact of Inverness market contract

The Highland Council is to introduce new traffic management measures to cushion the impact of works at the Victorian Market, Inverness, which has required part of Academy Street to be cordoned off to accommodate a works’ compound.

Over the coming days, as the scaffolding and advertising hoarding are completed, the traffic management arrangements will be adjusted as necessary in order to reduce congestion and maintain safe conditions on the roads and footways. Staff of the Council’s Transport Environmental and Community Services are working with the Project Manager and the Contractor’s traffic management specialists, ALBA, to ensure that all the following planned items are progressed:-

TECS staff will continue to monitor the contract to make sure that no unforeseen problems develop.

This agreement was subject to submission of a satisfactory traffic management arrangement, based on the following;

The Council is spending £891,000 on a major contract at the Victorian Market, which includes repair of the roof.
