Retirement for "Stig of the Dump"

Alan McKinnie, Waste Operations Manager who has responsibility for the recycling centre at Henderson Drive, Inverness, reported a happy ending to the story of Stig of the Dump, the cat befriended by workers at the centre.

With the help of donations of cat food from centre users, Council workers had fed and generally looked after the cat.

Recently the aging cat had required treatment from the vet, which had incurred a bill of £53.

He said: "I am delighted to say that a benefactor has kindly come forward to pay the outstanding vet bill and the workers agree fully that Stig of the Dump has reached an age where he deserves a good home.  He will get an MOT from the vet and will be leaving the centre soon to begin a well earned retirement.

"I would like to thank the workers for their care of the cat over the years and for everyone who has shown an interest in Stig's welfare."
