Closure of Fort William Primary

The 30-pupil Fort William Primary School was closed today (Thursday) as the result of overnight vandalism.

When head teacher Sue Commander arrived at the “old town” school this morning (6.50 am), she found the windows of the canteen, staff room and head teacher’s room smashed, items stolen, including dinner money totalling £40,  and furnishings and planters upturned and damaged.

Police were immediately called and a decision was taken to close the school for the day to allow forensic examinations to continue; three windows to be replaced;  and the broken glass and debris to be cleaned up.

The school will reopen tomorrow (Friday).
