Volunteers wanted for Butterfly rescue day

The small blue butterfly and The Highland Council Countryside Rangers need your help. The caterpillars of this rare butterfly are very fussy eaters and only like a plant called kidney vetch which the rangers have been growing from seed.

On Sunday (29 April) between 2pm and 4pm volunteers are invited to  come along and help start to plant the vetch along the foreshore between Ardersier Common and Fort George. This will encourage the colony of small blue butterflies to expand and not to be dependent on plants in just one small area. Tools and hot drinks will be provided but please bring your own gardening gloves and dress warmly.

Meet at Ardersier Common car park between Ardersier and Fort George, grid reference NH 776 564. For more information contact John Orr on 01463 703509

The aim of the Highland Council Countryside Rangers is to promote public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and to conserve wildlife
