Ideas sought for community use of land at Holm, Inverness

Highland Councillors from Inverness Ness-side Ward are inviting local organisations to apply to develop land in the Holm area, which is being made available for the community.  Councillors Norrie Donald, John Finnie, David Henderson and Fraser Parr hope that a facility can be created on the site which will benefit the local community.

The land is next to the new Tesco store on Dores Road, between the building and the road.  The site, which measures 0.06 hectares, can be built on, and could accommodate a meeting hall or similar facility.  Tesco gifted the land to the Council for community use during the development of the store.

Applications should be made in writing to The Highland Council, Inverness Ness-side Ward, Town House, High Street, Inverness IV1 IJJ by Monday 5th March 2012.  Further information is available at the Town House, telephone (01463) 724368.

Applicants should note that the Ward Councillors are to consult with Holm Community Council on any proposals received before they make a final decision on the application.

Holm Community Council Chairman Andy Maxtone commented: “The development of this site represents a great opportunity to establish a facility that will provide a community focused development. It’s the Community Councils desire that any development enhances the residential nature of the local area and provides opportunity and benefit for all.”
