Convener welcomes major investment by ASDA in Inverness

The Convener of The Highland Council Councillor Jimmy Gray has welcomed a major investment by ASDA in Inverness with the opening of  their £27 million store at Slackbuie.

Councillor Gray said: “The creation of 200 jobs in the construction and 375 jobs in the day-to-day running of the new store is a real boost to our local economy.  The opening has been eagerly awaited by local people, who welcome the quality and choice that Asda provides in the city.

“I also welcome the support given by ASDA to local suppliers, to modern apprenticeships, volunteering, local charities and carbon reduction.  They are a very welcome newcomer to the city business community and  I wish them every success with their venture.”
