Highland Council welcomes Caithness jobs boost.

The Highland Council has welcomed the announcement that Aon Hewitt has bought Babcock International Group’s Pensions Administration Office in Caithness and aims to grow the business.

The PAO at Forss, near Thurso, employs 33 people and serves schemes with a total of 80,000 members, mainly focusing on public sector defined benefit schemes. In the past five years it has expanded to take on business with private sector DB and defined contribution schemes.

Leader Councillor Drew Hendry said: “This is really good news for Caithness and I am particularly pleased that Aon Hewitt are committed to developing and growing the business over the next three years as they develop their public secutor pension business. We will be seeking an early meeting with them to discuss their plans.”
Councillor Deirdre Mackay, Leader of the Council’s Caithness and Sutherland Area Committee added:  “This is great news for the 33 people employed in Caithness who for many years have administered pension schemes of 80,000 members, mainly focusing on the public sector.

“I am delighted that the future growth of the Forss business will maintain and reinforce the excellent skills and experience of our local workforce. This is warmly welcomed for the area.”
