Visit By Japanese Consul General

During a visit to the Highlands, the Japanese Consul General, Mr Shuhei Takahashi  visited Inverness earlier today (Friday 7 July) to present Depute Provost, Kathleen Matheson, on behalf of the city, with a calligraphy scroll created by well-known Japanese calligrapher, Ms Koseki Takahashii (no relation).

Although based in Edinburgh, Mr Shuhei Takahashi has jurisdiction for the whole of Scotland as well as an area of Northern England. His visit was a chance to familiarise himself with the area and to meet with Council officials to discuss local issues.

After presenting the scroll, the Consul General joined the Depute Provost for a lunch time meeting in the Town House.  They were joined by Area Manager, Chris Claridge and Area Development Manager, Graham Strachan.

Mr Takahashi was then taken on a tour of the Town House before travelling through to Elgin to meet officials from Moray Council.
