Highland Council winter road condition reports for Thursday, 19 December 2013

Road condition and gritting treatment reports by The Highland Council’s, Transport, Environmental and Community Services for the morning of Thursday, 19 December 2013 are as follows:

Lochaber
Damp roads throughout the area. Sleet showers on high parts, accumulations up to 25mm on the Carnoch - Lochaline route, no problems reported. Posted: 19/12/2013 09:44

Badenoch and Strathspey
Heavy snow showers snow lying at all levels treatment ongoing. Posted: 19/12/2013 08:49
Low temperatures and snow showers, roads mostly wet with reports of snow lying on highest parts of some routes 1-2cm on A939 Bridge of Brown and 2-4 cm on the ski road upper section, treatment ongoing. Posted: 19/12/2013 08:03

Skye and Lochalsh
Medium sized tree across the A851 close to Sleat Primary School. The road is passable and the issue is being dealt with by TEC Services. No snow or ice problems on the road network, however there are sections where heavy hail showers are giving temporary coverings. Ongoing treatment of all primary, secondary and high ground routes. Caithness and North Sutherland
North Sutherland damp roads sleet showers on high parts, no problems reported, Caithness also some sleet showers, also no problems reported. Posted: 19/12/2013 08:40.

Caithness South Sutherland and East Ross 
Mainly wet roads this morning, with heavy sleet and snow showers on high ground. All routes are being treated as per policy. Windblown trees on: Newmore – Colliemore; Ardullie – Dingwall; Evanton – Dingwall; and Kildonan roads have all been cleared. Posted: 19/12/2013 08:40

Inverness
Roads wet. Gritting high ground primary routes due to surface temperatures near zero and as a precautionary measure in case snow starts. Posted: 19/12/2013 06:39
