Highland Council winter road condition reports for Christmas Eve

The Highland Council’s snow clearing / gritting route policies and area maps are online for 2013/14 at http://www.highland.gov.uk/gritting.htm.

Road condition and gritting treatment reports by TEC Services for Christmas Eve are as follows:

Ross and Cromarty 
2" snow on Fain and a covering on Beallach and Glendocherty. No problems in the east. Gritters stood down at 08:30 in east. Very windy throughout. Posted: 24/12/2013 11:04.

Caithness, South Sutherland East Ross
Road surface temperatures erratic. Snow and slush reported over higher routes. All routes treated by priority and policy. Posted: 24/12/2013 10:03.

Skye and Lochalsh
Road surface temperatures remain above zero. No issues. No wind or water damage reported. Posted: 24/12/2013 09:47.

Inverness
Sparkle, ice and snow on higher level routes, gritting by priority and policy. Posted: 24/12/2013 09:05

Caithness and North Sutherland
Marginal road surface temperatures, mainly in West of area, all routes patrolled and treated for patches of white frost, some sheltered areas treated as a precaution. Posted: 24/12/2013 09:01

Nairn
Slush and ice patches in higher south area. Lower area isolated ice and frost patches treatment ongoing with high winds across the area. Posted: 24/12/2013 08:40.

Badenoch and Strathspey
High gusts of winds and light showers of snow. Road conditions icy and frozen slush in the north of the area and a light dusting of snow on the highest routes. South of the area roads wet with some frozen slush. Posted: 24/12/2013 08:20.
