Council welcomes ground investigation works for start of A9 dualling.

The Highland Council welcomes Transport Scotland’s announcement today that a £1.3 million ground investigation contract is expected to be awarded early next month, for the dualling of the A9 Perth – Inverness road.

Leader of the Highland Council, Councillor Drew Hendry said: “We are delighted that this early sign of delivery on dualling of the A9 has been announced. The Highland Council is working with the Scottish Government, Transport Scotland and partners to upgrade the whole length of the A9 north of Perth and this announcement is extremely welcome to north road users.”

Subject to a mandatory standstill period, Transport Scotland will award the contract to Environmental Scientifics Group Ltd.

When the contract gets underway, it will be the first spade in the ground for the Scottish Government’s programme to dual the A9 between Perth and Inverness by 2025.  Work should begin next month and last for four months.
