Pool Closure at Golspie

The public swimming pool at Golspie Leisure Centre, Sutherland, has been closed as the result of advice from independent structural engineers, who recently carried out an inspection of the walkway around the pool.

Built in 1971 beside Golspie High School, the pool will remain closed until a detailed inspection has been carried out and remedial action taken.

The fitness suite and sauna are unaffected and will remain open.

Swimmers will be directed to the nearest public swimming pools at Tain, Invergordon and Alness.

A spokesman for The Highland Council said: "We regret the inconvenience caused to the public by having to close the pool at this busy time but public safety is paramount. The pool is likely to remain closed for some time as we require to commission a detailed inspection and then carry out the necessary repairs."
