Entrance fees removed at Inverness Floral Hall

Issued by High Life Highland.

Inverness Floral Hall has announced the removal of visitor admission charges from Monday 1 July 2013.

Opened in 1993 by Prince Edward, Inverness Floral Hall is a unique visitor attraction offering a tranquil break amidst beautiful floral displays. As the venue enters its 20th year, operators High Life Highland have made the decision as part of the plan to improve the experience for visitors to the Bught site.

In addition to removal of the admission fee, plans are being developed to enhance the popular on-site Cobb’s Café and to increase the area available for plant sales.

Ian Murray, High Life Highland Chief Executive welcomed the announcement: “Inverness Floral Hall is a true hidden gem on the Highland tourist map. I hope the removal of admission charges will enable more visitors to enjoy the Floral Hall experience, encourage repeat visits from people living in and around Inverness and establish the Floral Hall as a key asset to be enjoyed by the people of Inverness and the Highlands.”

Among the attractions on offer at the Floral Hall are a climatically controlled Tropical House which mimics the hot, humid tropical regions of the world, a cactus house which presents an award-winning range of succulents from all over the world, with many of the specimens provided and maintained by experts from the Inverness Cactus & Succulent Society.

The Floral Hall’s outside gardens are sheltered by a high stone wall and are richly planted with display beds, trees, shrubs, herbs and herbaceous borders. Younger visitors enjoy discovering the wooden carvings such as teddy bears and meerkats peeping out from among the plants.

Beyond the formal gardens, a high level rockery, varied wild flower areas and charming country garden plantings are lovingly cared for by trainees on the Floral Hall Garden Project for Adults with Learning Disabilities.

Entry to Inverness Floral Hall will be free from Monday 1 July. For further information please visit www.invernessfloralhall.com
