Council declares Wacky Woolly Winners

Mount Pleasant Primary School in Thurso, Caithness is the winner of The Highland Council’s Wacky Woolly Wednesday photo competition which was organised to mark Climate Week. Their winning entry titled ‘Hands up if you support Wacky Woolly Wednesday’ attracted the judges’ attention.

The Council’s Energy and Sustainability Team invited schools and offices throughout the Highlands to mark Climate Week 4-10 March by wearing jumpers to work and turning down the heating.

The temperature was turned down by 1 degree to reduce the Council’s carbon footprint. Schools and offices were urged to turn off electrical equipment not in use.

Photos from some of the participating schools were posted on the Council’s Flickr site at: http://ow.ly/iVPiF. To thank them for taking part all participating schools are being sent a climate change educational kit.
