Chance to get out and about to explore the Highland countryside with two top walks

The Highland Council’s Rangers are kicking off their 2013 events programme by inviting people to join them on two walks boasting stunning views, fresh air and walking with company -  just what is needed to beat the winter blues.

The first takes place on Wednesday (20 March) afternoon between 1pm-4pm with Ranger Corinne McCallum  who will be leading a guided walk through Belladrum Estate.  This is a lovely walk on good tracks and paths through the forest, climbing gently up onto the ridge which affords beautiful views over the estate which is home to much wildlife and has many stories to tell from its history.

For a longer full day walk why not join Corinne on Saturday 23 in Glen Affric? The  10km route will go through one of the most beautiful glens in Scotland with views of the mountains, lochs and native Caledonian Pine forest. Running from 10am to 4pm the pace will be gentle enough to pause for some wildlife spotting along the way.  The walk will be mostly on the level but anyone coming along should bring good walking shoes or boots, waterproofs and a picnic lunch.

To book a place on these guided walks please give Ranger Corinne McCallum a call on 01463 255291.

Details of where to meet up will be given when you book.  The cost for the Glen Affric day-long walk is £10/£6 concession and it will be £3/£2 for the Belladrum walk.

The Highland Council Countryside Rangers are a partnership between The Highland Council and Scottish Natural Heritage with the aim of promoting public enjoyment and appreciation of the countryside and conserving wildlife. 2013 is Year of Natural Scotland.
