Date fixed for Inverness By-election

A by-election will be held on Thursday 10 August to fill the vacancy on The Highland Council for Ward 53 Lochardil, Inverness. If there is a contest, polling will take place between 8 am and 9 pm at Lochardil Primary School.

The by-election is being called as the result of the death of Independent Councillor Margaret MacLennan on Friday 26th May. Councillor MacLennan served on the former Inverness District Council between 1992-96 and continuously on The Highland Council from 1996 until her death.

The deadline for nominations is 4 pm on Tuesday 18 July. Prospective candidates can obtain nomination packs from Friday 30 June.  Consent to nomination may be submitted earlier and candidaties should contact John Bruce, the Council’s Elections Manager on 01349 868524 for more information.
