Sgoil Chiùil na Gàidhealtachd Annual Tour 2012

The National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music is pleased to announce the dates for this year’s whole school tour. This year’s tour will be based on Tayside, with shows in Perth, Killin, and Dundee before the tour concludes with the final concert at Plockton High School.

The concerts will feature the 22 students in various combinations, including them playing all together in a powerful finale. The Centre teaches accordion, clarsach, fiddle, pipes, piano, guitar, whistle, flute, and Scots and Gaelic song, and all of these will feature strongly on the programme. All of the youngsters are multi-talented and there are a few other instruments involved as well, so there really is something for everybody in the show.

The Perth concert is particularly exciting as it will be a double-header with the terrific Gordon Duncan Experience, a national 'Celtic big band' for young people of all musical backgrounds inspired by the late great piper and directed by Corrina Hewat and David Milligan of The Unusual Suspects.

The students will also do schools workshops as part of the tour. The performance details are:
