Dalneigh Primary School crowned guy-making champions

There was an unexpected surprise for the Chair of the Inverness Events and Festivals Working Group Councillor Glynis Sinclair this afternoon (20/11/13) when she travelled to Dalneigh Primary School to meet the winners of this year’s Bonfire Night Guy Making Competition.

For the first time in the history of the competition  it was discovered that the winning Guy was made by a class of five and six year olds.

Councillor Sinclair said: “It was a wonderful surprise when Head Teacher Shona Mackinnon took me in to meet Teacher Marion Service and her pupils because we had no idea that our winners were so young. We received some quite amazing entries for the competition this year; but the Dalneigh Primary School Guy was really extra special. After hearing from the children themselves how they made every bit of their Guy by hand and were really looking forward to doing it again; we cannot wait to see wait to see what they will come up with next year when they will have the job of creating the main guy that will take pride of place on top of our giant bonfire."
