Children’s Christmas arts and crafts event in Grantown

Local children are being invited to join The Highland Council’s Countryside Ranger Saranne Bish, Piers Voysey from the Anagach Woods Trust and local Councillor Jaci Douglas for their annual Christmas Arts and Crafts event in Grantown-on-Spey on Friday (29 November) directly after the town is lit up with its Winter Lights.

Aimed at children this yearly event is now in its 9th year and Christmas isn’t Christmas without one of Pier’s beloved reindeer! Other crafts include Christmas wreaths, tree and table decorations – all made from natural materials collected from Anagach Woods with some glitter and snow spray thrown in for good measure!

This fun crafty event compliments perfectly the community’s late night shopping, school choir and the Winter Lights being switched on.

Saranne said: “Believe it or not, even after all these years I’ve never had a chance yet to make my own reindeer so I’m determined to do so this year. I’m normally running around too much ensuring everyone is having a good time’

Running from 7pm – 8.30pm the event takes place upstairs at the Town house, Grantown-on-Spey and the cost is £2 per child. For more information phone the rangers on 01479 873 914 otherwise just turn up on the evening.

The Countryside Rangers run many events and guided walks which aim to help raise awareness and encourage appreciation of the scenery, wildlife and heritage of the Highlands. A programme of Ranger Guided Walks and Events is on the council’s website at: http://www.highland.gov.uk/countrysiderangerevents.htm
