Report on support for older people discussed at Skye, Lochalsh, Wester Ross and Assynt District Partnership.

The Skye, Lochalsh, Wester Ross & Assynt District Partnership held its fourth, quarterly meeting in Lochcarron on Monday 16 September.

The meeting heard from Michelle Seviour, formerly of Skye & Lochalsh Council for Voluntary Organisations (SLCVO), who presented a report on Reshaping Care for Older People.  A copy of the full report is available on the homepage of the SLCVO website www.slcvo.org.uk/ .

The report was well received by the Partnership and led to an interesting and wide-ranging discussion on how best to support elderly people in West Highland communities.  The Partnership is keen to see the recommendations contained in the report taken forward and hope that there will be further discussion on this through the NHS Public Partnership Forums and Highland Council Ward Forums.

The meeting also discussed the on-going work on future health services for the area, respite care, mental health services, patient transport and the Highland Early Years Collaborative.  In addition, the Partnership reviewed how it was working, and will feed in to the forthcoming review of District Partnerships across Highland.

The next meeting of the Partnership will be held in Kyle of Lochalsh on Monday 11th November 2013.
