Motorists warned of road closure near Carrbridge

Motorists are being advised by The Highland Council that from Wednesday 26 February until Sunday 16 March urgent maintenance works will be carried out to Baddengorm Railway Bridge, near Carrbridge by Network Rail which will require a temporary road closure on a short length of the A938 Blackmount - Dulnain Bridge Road below the bridge.

The length of road affected by the closure, which will be clearly signed, will be from the A9 Trunk Road junction with the A938 Blackmount – Dulnain Bridge road and will extend for 860 metres below Baddengorm Railway Bridge to the private access road leading to Wester Foregin Farm, Carrbridge.

Alternative routes for vehicles will be available using the A9 Edinburgh-Thurso Trunk Road (Part), A95 Granish to Banff Trunk Road (Part) and B9153 Carrbridge to Kinveachy Road.

Diversion routes for vehicles will be signposted and access for pedestrians and cyclists will be available throughout the works.

A Council spokesman said: “The maintenance work is urgent and requires the road to be closed to allow the work to be carried out safely and as quickly as possible.  The works are timed to avoid the main holiday periods and we have been assured that every effort will be made by Network Rail and their contractors to minimise disruption.”
