Last week Cromarty primary held their second Eco Day of the session. Pupils joined The Highland Council Ranger Martin Hind for a beach clean and managed to fill lots of bags of litter.

Back in the school the busy youngsters had the chance to sample different fruits in a tasting session funded by the High 5 programme before all having a go at making fruit smoothies to drink and fruity kebabs to tuck into.

The healthy theme of the day continued with everyone enjoying a performance by Hopscotch Theatre performing Colin’s Commonhealth Games. This reinforced the message of keeping your body healthy linking it topically with the Commonwealth Games and many of the pupils thought this was Hopscotch’s best show yet.

Head Teacher Henri Shepherd said:  “Once again it was lovely getting parents and the wider community involved with the pupils to make the local environment a better place.  The regular Eco days have also had a positive impact on pupil’s food choices with many children choosing fruit for snack and for their puddings at lunch.”
