Cairngorm Runners in partnership with Active Schools have organised a family fun run to take place in Aviemore this Friday (4 July) to celebrate the Queen’s Baton Relay visit to the village.

Anyone wanting to take part in the fun run is asked to come along and register at the start point which is at the Highland Resort staff accommodation car park close to the Scandinavian Village.  Registration takes place from 8.30am-8.50am and all children taking part will be given a number to wear as they run.  The family fun run starts at 9am and local children are already busy making their own batons to bring along and carry as they take part.

The fun run will end at 9.30am and all children coming along will be presented with a medal and a red, white or blue flag after they complete the short course.  There will then be time to come and line the street and watch as the Baton Relay arrives at 10am.

During the 45 minute parade through the village the crowds will be entertained by live traditional music performed by Feis Spe who will be joined by guest musicians from Donegal.

Road users are advised that from 6am to 12 noon cones will be in place along the route through the village preventing anyl vehicles from parking or waiting.
