Finding the Findhorn

The world famous river Findhorn has attracted people and wildlife for thousands of years. The Council’s Inverness East & Nairn Countryside Ranger John Orr will be  leading a guided walk to its middle reaches next Sunday from 2-5pm.

John said: “This walk takes us up above the river with spectacular views upstream towards The Findhorn Terraces then we descend to the deserted farm at Ballaggan at the river’s edge. Expect glorious views, fascinating history and a wealth of wildlife all connected with this part of the Findhorn. The walk is 5km or 3 miles and is a little steep in places.”

The walk costs £5 adults and £3 for children and concessions. Anyone coming along should wear walking bootsand bring waterproofs and a snack/hot drink. Children must be accompanied by an adult. For more information and to book a place please phone the rangers on 01463 255291

The Countryside Rangers run many events and guided walks which aim to help raise awareness and encourage appreciation of the scenery, wildlife and heritage of the Highlands. A programme of Ranger Guided Walks and Events is on the council’s website .
