Further public consultation on options appraisal for A890 Stromeferry Bypass

Draft routes plans and assessment of the options for Part 2 of the appraisal will be presented in drop-in sessions in Lochcarron Village Hall on Thursday 27 March and in Achmore Village Hall on Friday 28 March.  Both venues will be open between 1pm and 7 pm.

The process of selecting a preferred option for the route started in autumn 2012 when the council appointed URS to carry out the appraisal. The A890 Stromeferry Bypass has been affected by rock fall and intermittent closures since it opened in 1970. The option appraisal being undertaken will allow the Council to select the route option which best matches the needs of the area.

The Part 1 report was finalised in May 2013 and recommended that nine options be considered in more detail in Part 2 of the appraisal. It is intended to have draft Part 2 report prepared by May 2014 with recommendations which will be considered by the council in autumn 2014. It is at this stage that a preferred option will be selected by the council.
