Braes of Conon tenants welcomed into their new home

Local Councillors Graham Mackenzie, Angela MacLean, Margaret Paterson and Alister MacKinnon, along with Director of Community Services William Gilfillan welcomed new tenants Michael and Sherryl Stephen to their new home at Thistle Road, Conon Bridge yesterday (Wednesday 12 Mach). Mr and Mrs Stephen share the property with their two children.

The new units have been developed as part of a larger housing development by Tulloch Homes Express.  The homes were designed by Archial, and the Chartered Surveyors were KLM Partnership.

Speaking prior to the house-warming event, Councillor Dave Fallows, Chair of Finance, Housing and Resources Committee said: “It is always great to welcome new tenants into a new council house and after so many years of being unable to build new homes, our council house build programme is gathering pace and we are in the position of welcoming more tenants and I hope that Michael and Sherryl have many happy years in their new home.”

Welcoming guests into his home, Michael commented: “We are so pleased with our new home.  We moved into this specially designed house just before Christmas and the extra space and special features like the walk-in shower, have made such a difference to me and to our whole family.”

The council house development, which totals 30 units, has been split into two phases, with the second phase due to complete in June 2014.  The development will provide a mixture of flats, bungalows and houses, with eight units for sale under the Scottish Government’s LIFT programme, offering affordable home ownership to first time buyers.
