Young musicians busy performing and rehearsing

young pipers

As the year moves into autumn, young musicians from all over Highland remain as busy as ever.  A number of pipers from Culloden and Fortrose academies who are taught by Highland Council Music Instructors took part in a Pipers Relay at Culloden Battlefields Homecoming event last Saturday.  The pipers, who are also members of the Highland Pipers Club which is run weekly by Highland Council Instrumental Instructor James McGregor, entertained visitors with continuous playing throughout the day.

Also performing in Inverness on Saturday were members of Còisir G who took part in the opening Concert of the 2014 Blas Festival held in Eden Court.

Activities for Highland Young Musicians groups have also begun, with all the groups working hard at their rehearsal weekends in Inverness towards the first of this year’s Concerts Festivals which will be held in Aviemore on Saturday 22 November.

These activities, and many more, are all run under the auspices of the Highland Council’s Instrumental Tuition Service and this year promises to be as busy as ever for both staff and pupils at local, area and regional levels.
