Find out more about the range of Community Services provided in your area

You can find out more about the local services which Highland Council provides at a series of events across the Highlands, beginning on 1 October.

Community Services is a new directorate of The Highland Council that delivers many of the Council’s everyday services, with staff in regular contact with the people of the Highlands.  The Service delivers a wide range of services including refuse collection, grass cutting, winter maintenance, housing, homelessness, roads maintenance.

Community Services will be holding 9 public forum events in local communities across the Highlands to describe the variety of services are provided, to explain what we do with the money available, and to hear what communities have to say about local services.

Chairman of The Highland Council’s Community Services Committee, Graham Mackenzie, encouraged people to attend the local events. He said: “Community Services is a new directorate of The Highland Council that delivers many of the Council’s every day services such as refuse collection, grass cutting, waste management, homelessness, roads maintenance and much more.  This puts our staff in regular contact with most of you.  As such, the Director and I are keen to speak to you about how we deliver these services, how we might improve service delivery and what you could do more of yourselves to benefit your community.  It would be great to see as many of you as possible during our round of Open Evenings.”

The first three events are as follows:

  • 1 October, 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Wick High School, Wick
  • 2 October, 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Kingussie High School, Kingussie
  • 28 October, 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the Chamber, Council Offices, Dingwall.

Further dates and venues will be advertised in the local press and on our website.
