Highland Schools Shortlisted For Education Oscars

Two Highland schools have been shortlisted for this year's education Oscars, highlighting them as examples of excellence. Highland boasts six finalists, with three Highland teachers and The Highland Council also reaching the final round.
This puts them in the running for top honours when the fifth annual Scottish Education Awards are held in Glasgow on 2 June 2006.
The awards recognise achievement in education across a range of categories - from star teachers to a school's approach to healthy living. Winning schools receive a trophy and 1,000 pounds.
Education Minister Peter Peacock said:
"These awards celebrate schools and teachers who encourage success and achievement - in their classrooms and their pupils.
"Highland schools work hard every day to inspire pupils and help them succeed, and I'm pleased to see so many of them recognised as finalists in this year's awards."

Scottish Daily Record Gold Award - Head Teacher of the Year

Scottish Daily Record Gold Award - Teacher of the Year
