Community Services events reach out to inform Highland locals
Seven more dates and venues have been confirmed by The Highland Council’s Community Services in a series of nine local events that have been organised to help people find out more about the range of Community Services provided in their areas.
The first two events have already taken place in Wick and Kingussie on the first and second on October, respectively.
Community Services is a new directorate of The Highland Council that delivers many of the Council’s everyday services, with staff in regular contact with the people of the Highlands. The Service delivers a wide range of services including refuse collection, grass cutting, winter maintenance, housing, homelessness, roads maintenance.
At seven more public forum events in local communities across the Highlands the Service Director William Gilfillan and Committee Chairman Councillor Graham MacKenzie will describe the variety of services that are provided, explain what the Council does with the money available, and listen to what communities have to say about local services.
The next seven events are on:
Tuesday 28 October at Dingwall Council Chambers, 6.30pm-8.30pm;
Wednesday 29 October at Tain Church Hall, (entrance via Queen Street), Tain, 6.30-8.30pm;
Tuesday 4 November at Highland Council Town House, Inverness, 6pm – 8pm;
Wednesday 19 November at Fort William Council Chambers, 6.30-8.30pm;
Wednesday 26 November, High School Portree, Skye, 6.30-8.30pm;
Thursday 27 November, Rosebank Primary School, Nairn, 6.30pm-8.30pm; and
Tuesday 2 December, Brora Primary School, Brora, 6.30-8.30pm.
Chairman of The Highland Council’s Community Services Committee, Graham Mackenzie, is encouraging people to attend the local events. He said: “Community Services is a new directorate of The Highland Council that delivers many of the Council’s every day services such as refuse collection, grass cutting, waste management, homelessness, roads maintenance and much more. This puts our staff in regular contact with most of you.
“The Director and I are keen to speak to you about how we deliver these services, how we might improve service delivery and what you could do more of yourselves to benefit your community. It would be great to see as many of you as possible during our round of Open Evenings.”
