Road closure remains in place on the A890 Stromeferry bypass

Early yesterday morning (Tuesday 28 October 2014) there was a substantial landslip on the A890 Stromeferry bypass approximately 150m west of the avalanche shelter. As a result the road has been closed between Ardnarff and Attadale to allow the debris to be cleared and for engineers to assess the safety of the slope which remains.

Presently the road remains closed  and the situation will be updated once further detailed information is available.

Emergency services in the South West Ross area remain unaffected by the road closure.

The diversion route whilst the road is closed is A890 Strathcarron to Achnasheen; A832 Achnasheen to Garve; A835 Garve to Tore Roundabout; A9 Tore to Inverness; A82 Inverness to Invermoriston; A887 / A87 Invermoriston to Auchtertyre and vice versa with a total diversion 133 miles.

There has been no major disruption to the rail network but for further updates please see the ScotRail website - http://www.journeycheck.com/firstscotrail/
