Sutherland District Health and Social Care Partnership meeting

The next meeting of the Sutherland District Health and Social Care Partnership takes place at Drummuie, Golspie on Friday 28 November.

The agenda features a presentation “Learning from Nuka” delivered by Gill McVicar, Director of Operations, NHS Highland. Nuka is an area in rural Alaska which experiences challenges broadly similar to those we experience here in Sutherland.  It shows how the services and community are responding successfully at a local level.

To set the context this will be preceded by updates on the challenging budget positions of The Highland Council and NHS Highland. These will be presented by Derek Yule, Highland Council’s Director of Finance and Bob Silverwood, NHS Highland’s North Manager.

Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will be joining the District Partnership meeting for the first time bringing Sutherland community safety issues alongside health and social care.

Partnership Chair, Highland Councillor Deirdre Mackay said: “I am delighted to welcome Police and Fire and Rescue to the Partnership.  Having all the key agencies around the one table is the most effective way of dealing with Sutherland issues. It is great having this local focus again.”

Members of the public are more than welcome to observe the meeting and will have the opportunity, at the end of the meeting to comment on the items discussed or raise specific issues.

The Partnership meeting takes place at 10.30am in the Ben More Assynt Room at Drummuie Golspie and will be the last of the Sutherland District Health and Social Care Partnership meetings held this calendar year.

Dates for the 2015 meetings will be advised in due course via the Council website.

A copy of the agenda is on the council’s website.
