Youth input at Education, Culture and Sport Committee

Youth groups from throughout the Highlands will be centre-stage at the start of The Highland Council’s Education Culture and Sport Committee tomorrow (Thursday).  The meeting starts at 10.30 am and will be held in the Council Chamber at Inverness.

Committee Members will be entertained by the Alness youth group,    Reverb.  Then a DVD -   Helmsdale Horrors  -  produced by young people with Arts in Motion facilitated by Community Learning and Leisure Arts and Youth Development staff will be shown.  Those presenting the DVD are Alison Jappy (15), Eilidh Jappy (15) and Amy MacLeod (14).

 Safron Munro (15), Lochaber High School, will give a short talk about her experience of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and how it changed her life.
 
We also are expecting the following young people to attend committee and they may be invited to join in a short discussion on youth issues: –
 
Lochaber Youth Forum:  Jeff Lawrie (17), Mallaig;
Inverness Youth Forum: Ewan McCreath (16)
Ross and Cromarty Youth Forum:  Andrew Gill (16)
Highland Youth Voice: Sunny Moodie (18).
