Road condition and gritting treatment reports by The Highland Council’s Community Services for the morning of Wednesday, 10 December 2014 are as follows:

South Sutherland and East Ross 

More snow than forecast. Extra gritters mobilised to cover effected routes.  All routes patrolled and treated as per policy.  Power cable reported down at West Shiness and reported to utilities. Posted: 10/12/2014 11:09

Mid and West Ross

High tide check undertaken at various locations this morning - waves not as big as expected to date; no overtopping problems anticipated with this morning’s high tide. Posted: 10/12/2014 08:49

Caithness and North Sutherland

Up to 2" snow on higher ground in North Sutherland, bladed and treated. Caithness generally covering of sleet/slush, with road surface temperature very marginal until after 7am, all treated. Posted: 10/12/2014 08:38

Mid and West Ross 

Checking and treating high routes in the West as required for slush; wet wintery showers continuing; lightning widespread this morning; continuing to monitor conditions. Nairn

Badenoch and Strathspey

High gust of wind, rain/sleet showers, 2" wet snow, 3" on the highest routes treatment ongoing. Posted: 10/12/2014 08:03

Inverness

Up to 2" wet snow cover on high roads, low roads very wet, gritting high roads plus blading where required. Posted: 10/12/2014 07:06
