Road closure - Structural damage Lochaber High School

Issued by Police Scotland

Police in Lochaber, with assistance from Highland Council, advise the public that the A830 Fort William to Mallaig road is currently closed with a diversion via the B8006 (Caol) due to structural damage to Lochaber High School. Drivers and pedestrians are advised to avoid the area until further notice.

Engineers are currently on site attending to the damage.

Highland Council advise the following:

Pupils will remain in the building at lunch time today. Food will be available in the canteen.

Pupils who are collected by parents at lunchtime should leave by the Lochyside (Farmfoods) door as the road at Camaghael has been closed and traffic is being re-directed.

No pupils are being allowed to leave the school building until further notice (unless they are being collected).

Classes will run as normal this afternoon and a further update will be posted later on the school’s news page on its website.

Some 831 pupils attend Lochaber High School.
