Opportunity for taxi and private hire car operators to have their say

Taxi and private hire car operators (PHC) and drivers in Highland are being invited to meet with The Highland Council’s Taxi/PHC Sub Group to provide Members with their views on a number of issues relating to the trade. There will also be an opportunity for the trade to raise any issue which they wish with the sub group.

The sub group comprises the Chair and Vice-Chair of The Highland Licensing Committee, Councillors Maxine Smith and Jamie Stone respectively, together with another Member of the Committee, Councillor Allan Duffy. Licensing Officials will also attend.

A meeting of the sub group has already taken place in Fort William and further meetings will be held in Wick on 13 March, Dingwall on 18 March and Inverness on 20 March.

Among the issues which the sub group welcomes feedback on include: the forthcoming review of the taxi tariff fares; the provision of wheelchair accessible vehicles; and the introduction of ultra-low emission vehicles.

The meetings will be held at:

  • Wick on 13 March (11am) at The Chambers, Wick Town Hall, Bridge Street, Wick, KW1 4AJ.
  • Dingwall on 18 March (11am) at Council Chamber, Highland Council Offices, High Street, Dingwall, IV15 9QN.
  • Inverness on 20 March (11am) at Committee Room 1, Highland Council Headquarters, Glenurquhart Road, Inverness IV3 5NX.
