Prize Bingo Night Raises Cash For Memorial Fund

£1,736.60 was raised at a prize bingo evening held in the Railway Club, Inverlochy on Friday night in aid of the Martin Ferguson Memorial Trust Fund.

This Trust Fund was established following the tragic death of Private Martin Ferguson in the Gulf War to support young people living in Lochaber.  Anyone under the age of 25 who has lived in the area for at least 5 years can apply for a grant to enable them to either travel to any part of the world to undertake cultural, educational and sporting activities or to obtain special medical treatment or to assist in the relief of suffering.

Area Convener and Trustee of the Memorial Fund, Councillor Olwyn Macdonald was delighted with the money raised.  She said:  “I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped to make our bingo evening such a great success, especially Willie MacKillop from The Railway Club and Fay and Marlene from Caol Community Centre.

“I would also like to thank everyone who donated prizes and off course everyone who came along to play.  It was a wonderful way to have fun and raise serious money at the same time. The money will give a very welcomed boost to the Trust Fund which directly benefits young local people.”

Anyone wishing to either apply to the Martin Ferguson Memorial Trust Fund or to make a donation should write to the Area Administrator Keith Falconer at  Lochaber House, High Street, Fort William, PH33  6EL.
