Temporary closure of city centre routes during new road race event
The Highland Council is advising drivers that roads in Inverness City Centre will be temporarily closed to traffic on the afternoon of Sunday 19 July when Inverness Harriers stage a trial 10K Road Race along the banks of the River Ness as part of the Inverness Gala.
The race starts at 2pm from Bught Park and the route along the river takes in Bught Road, Ness Walk, Ness Bridge, Bank Street, Portland Place, Shore Street, Stadium Road, Black Bridge and Huntly Street before ending back at Bught Park.

· Bught Road fully closed from 14:00 – 15:30hrs
· Ness Walk (Upper) fully closed from 14:00 – 15:30hrs
· Ardross Terrace fully closed from 14:00 – 15:30hrs
· Ness Walk Ness Bridge fully closed from 14:00 – 15:30hrs
· Bank Street fully closed from 14:00 – 14:25hrs
· Douglas Row fully closed from 14:00 – 14:30hrs
· Riverside Street fully closed from 14:00 - 14:45hrs
· Waterloo Place fully closed from 14:00 - 15:15hrs
· Portland Place fully closed from 14:00 - 15:15hrs
· Shore Street - Single lane closure from 14:00 - 15:15hrs
· Cromwell Street - Single lane closure from 14:00 - 15:15hrs
· Stadium Road - Single Lane Closure from 14:00 - 15:15hrs
· Waterloo Bridge fully closed from 14:00 - 15:15hrs
· Gilbert Street fully closed from 14:00 - 15:30hrs
· Huntly Place fully closed from 14:00 - 15:30hrs
· Huntly Street fully closed from 14:15 – 15:30hrs
Organisers have high hopes that this new road race could become an annual event attracting in excess of 3000 runners to the city.
