Negotiations underway to find new buyer for Grantown-on-Spey smokehouse

Highland Council Leader Margaret Davidson reported back following a useful meeting yesterday with Local MSP Fergus Ewing, Youngs Seafood and other stakeholders.

Cllr Davidson said: "Youngs and Scottish Enterprise are negotiating for a potential new tenant for the factory in Grantown on Spey. However we have a long way to go and I hope that Youngs continue to operate until Grantown has a secure future."

Vice-Convener, Cllr Bill Lobban added: "It is absolutely imperative that the Grantown factory remains open to allow negotiations to find a new operator to proceed. The workforce in Grantown produce a high quality product and will be a valuable asset for any new operator."
